~Organizing My Markets?~
Have you published an article on how to organize a markets notebook?
It's funny. I'm really organized when I sell ads, and making the transfer of skills to a marketing notebook for MY articles just doesn't work. If you've already done something, I must have missed it.
We haven't run any articles on organizing market, but the most organized writer I know is Julie Hood, owner of (you guessed it!) The Organized Writer!

~Editing For Royalties?~
I have a writing question now. I've been asked to take on some editing work (freelance of course) for a publishing firm. I am supposed to edit books for them and then I will receive 5% in royalties. That's it. There is no paid fee for the editing I do.
What are your thoughts on this? I'm in the dark since I've never handled work this way. My work has always been paid for on a project or hourly basis and I'm not sure what to do in this situation. Help. Is it worthwhile to take on such an assignment or will I end up with a lot of work and no money in the end?
Thanks, Ang.
Ouch!! I would never involve myself in such a deal. First, they must be pretty small. You provided me with their name in private and I've never heard of them. I found an ad they ran online in October of 2000 where they offered their authors as editors for hire. That is bizarre! The ad contains several typos and they even offer to have their authors write term papers for third parties. Double bizarre.
I can't find their homepage on google, so it must have a really low ranking...if they even have a homepage. The ad they ran in 2000 has a h*tmail.com address, which is an even bigger red flag (real publishers don't use fr*e email services).
They obviously don't have much, if any, money for marketing books because they're so small. I'm starting to wonder if they're even a real business. Chances are your 5% will be nothing or almost nothing in the end.
If I were you, I'd tell them to jump in a lake. It doesn't look like they know how to run a publishing business and it appears they're looking for newbie editors who may be tempted to work for future funds that will probably never exist.
Hugs,
Ang
