Circ: 1K+. Bimonthly. Pays on publication. Publishes ms about 12 months after acceptance. Buys 1st and reprints rights. Accepts reprints as long as writer provides information on where and when previously published. Responds 8 weeks. Sample by mailing a 9x12 SASE with 2 first class stamps. Current Needs: We need 800- to 1000-word how-to features. We lean heavily toward informational articles rather than personal experience or reflection. We need features on nonfiction, fiction, juvenile, business of writing, leading writers groups, and more. Especially looking for articles on any form of juvenile writing. Submit query or complete ms by mail or by email to CQArticles (at) aol.com. If you submit by email, paste article into the the body of your email. We do not open attached files due to the danger of viruses. Please just double space between paragraphs. Do not use enhancements such as all caps, boldface or bullets.
Pay: Pays flat fee of $20-$25 per feature depending on how much editing is needed. Pays $5-$10 for short items of 200-1000 words.
Hints: The most common mistake writers make is not studying our publication and writer's guidelines before submitting. We have a specialized audience with special needs.
