Primarily, it weaves the hobby aspect of steam, with most featured articles directed toward the scale model builder. Approximately 80% of our readers enjoy large scale model railroading (mainly steam-powered, but often diesel and electric, too). Other interests include stationary steam engines, steamboats, steam traction engines, automotive steam, and various other steam engines. Article of historical interest are often featured, along with construction projects, 'how-to' articles, and news about the hobby. Welcomes new writers. Circ 8.5K. Bi-monthly. Pays after publication. Hints: Your copy will be considered most favorably if it is typed and double-spaced, but we won't reject a handwritten copy. It should be logical, detailed and sequential enough that a novice could accomplish the task. Use complete sentences. Refrain from using idiomatic expressions or abbreviations that are not universally used and accepted. Avoid writing on the backs of prints. Number photos (on the back) with pencil, crayon, or China marker. Drawings are essential for any construction article. Drawings are redrawn by our draftsmen. Your real name must be used. We cannot use such nicknames as Steamin' Sam' or 'The Antique Amateur'. Your titles are welcome as suggestions, but we do reserve the right to change and use our own instead. Unsolicited articles must include a SASE for return.
