Current Needs: OCM - All segments of coast needed. NWT - Short features + 'Worth a Stop' for ID, MT, B.C. (Many of the longer features are assigned, but these shorter articles can get a foot in the door.) Submit query by mail with SASE.
Pay: Pays flat fee of $50 for 'Worth a Stop' and $75 for 1-page to $150-$300 for larger features (includes photos).
Hints: Query first. Be flexible and willing to follow editor's directions if a rewrite is requested. Learn to take photos with slide film. Put captions and credits on separate sheet with photos. Make query short (one page) and cover no more than three story ideas, preferably one. Don't be overly personal on first query.
Photos/Art: Slides or larger transparencies. Pays $325 for cover and $100 for calendar cover and inside which come out twice a year. Pays $25-$50 up to 1/2 page size and $75 for full page. Buys one-time rights.
