Current Needs: As a bimonthly, we must be selective and representative in our content. It's very helpful if prospective writers familiarize themselves with our publication as subscribers or frequent readers. That said, we welcome any ideas on the people, events, places, history, and culture in our state. Submit query by email to mccune (at) oklahomatoday.com or steffie (at) oklahomatoday.com.
Pay: We pay per piece, beginning with short pieces of 100 - 400 words, which begin at $25 and go to $60. Larger feature well pieces start at around $125 and go to $600.
Hints: The biggest mistake prospective writers make is not being familiar with our publication and querying us on topics we've already featured in the past few years. We also tend to hear from student writers (i.e. college students) who haven't yet established themselves professionally.
Photos/Art: Space rates start at $50; covers are $200. Assigned photography ranges start at $200 per assignment.
