Current Needs: Lively, edgy feature ideas with a fresh angle; unique, small items for Capital Comment. Submit full ms for First Person or Capital Comment; otherwise query first.
Pay: Pays $0.50/word for various lengths. See guidelines.
Hints: This is an educated, thoughtful, well-heeled readership. Never talk down to the readers or suggest ideas behind the curve. When a writer calls and says this idea has been in the Washington Post or the New York Times, I say, So why should we run it? Restaurant reviews are done in-house. Also, we don't use partisan or political screeds.
Photos/Art: We handle most art. If you have publishable-quality photos unique to your story though, say so. Payment varies.
