The Slowest Month of the Year - Yea!

August is always our slowest month of the year. I guess everybody is on vacation or lounging around the pool. Slow author sign-ups mean more time for me to enjoy spending time sitting outside by the river, playing in my garden with Max, watching Mason dig in the dirt with his bulldozer, and listening to the teenagers' chatter.

However, in September, when school starts, people start thinking about Fall and then about Christmas. Authors really kick into gear to get their almost-finished manuscript completed in the hopes of getting them published by Christmas. If this is you, and you're planning to submit your manuscript to BookLocker for consideration, please-oh-please try to submit your manuscript for consideration sometime in September - not in October or, heaven-forbid, November. You wouldn't believe how many authors contact me in late November, asking if they can get copies by Christmas. While we usually get books on the market in about a month, things get pretty tight that close to Christmas. Needless to say, November and December are pretty hectic around here!

So, I'm enjoying this month! I have to go now. I'm writing this at 6:00 p.m. on Monday and there's a wonderful, cool breeze blowing by the river.
